the Sivonovan Playlist
The other night, Sivon and I were relaxing on the couch after a long day of classes, and I started humming a song that reminded me of her. She asked me what it was, so I sang her the lyrics, then played it for her. She loved it so much, she found a song that reminded her of me (keeping with my pre-kirling era theme), and we kept going back and forth like that, coming up with songs that reminded us of each other and our journey in this life.

“She’s a Rainbow” by the Rolling Stones
This is the one I was humming for Sivon, which describes not only her aura but also the way she’s technicolored my world.
2. “Oh What a World 2.0” by Kacey Musgraves
Sivon said this song reminds her how magical our lives and world are. But she said it’s these lyrics specifically that she loves most:

3. “My Own Soul’s Warning” by the Killers
We shouted out the name of this song at the same time. The lyrics speak for themselves:

4. “Roll with the Changes” by REO Speedwagon
Sivon said this song gives her the strength to turn the page when things don’t go her way, like after her kirling… or when Corah takes her to the mat in hand-to-hand combat training. I love the message of unwavering support.
5. “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes
This is how I felt the first time I laid eyes on Sivon at SKI. She is my home, and I am hers.
6. “Sometimes” by James
These lyrics: Sometimes, when I look deep in your eyes, I swear I can see your soul.
7. “Red” (Taylor’s Version) by Taylor Swift
Sivon says this song perfectly encapsulates how she feels about me and our relationship. I just read through the lyrics, and wow. This might be my new favorite song.
8. “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers
This is how I felt every time I saw Sivon with Janus.
9. “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
Is this how long our souls have loved one another? I hope we have millenia more.
10. “XO” by John Mayer
The XO of the Carrefour symbol… and the way she can knock me out with one look.
11. “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor
We included this song because it reminds us of Vivi and Corah but also our feelings for each other.
12. “Sweet Disposition” by The Temper Trap
Unadulterated passion.
13. “Coloratura” by Coldplay
If ever a movie was made about our lives, this sweeping symphony of a song would play during the rolling credits. This is what I imagine happens once we’ve learned all of life’s lessons and free ourselves from the cycle of reincarnation. Only beauty and love will remain.
